The Basic Partners Program is intended to provide a solid introductory foundation for the basics of hemophilia and von Willebrand disease and increase competence to provide high quality bleeding disorder management within a multidisciplinary comprehensive care team as derived from evidence-based education, standardized guidelines, and professional networking. The Basic Partners Program is intended to enhance participants' knowledge of hemophilia and von Willebrand disease and increase competence to provide high quality bleeding disorder management within a multidisciplinary comprehensive care team as derived from evidence-based education, standardized guidelines, and professional networking.

At the conclusion of this live activity, the participants should be better able to:

• Describe the pathophysiology of hemophilia and von Willebrand disease (VWD), including the underlying genetics, differences by disease type and severity, basic treatments, and possible disorder-specific complications.
• Translate evidence-based assessment and management techniques during bleeding episodes and other complications associated with hemophilia and VWD
• Define a patient-/family-centered, multidisciplinary, team-based approach while caring for persons with bleeding disorders
• Discuss the organization and funding of the U.S. Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC) network and important partnerships within the network
• Explain the roles and responsibilities of core members of the multidisciplinary bleeding disorders comprehensive care team
• Recognize the value of a professional network of nurses and other healthcare providers from HTCs to promote quality care and evidence-based practice through collaboration

Multidisciplinary clinical providers who currently are, and have been, practicing in the federally recognized U.S. Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC) network for at least six (6) months, including, but not limited to, nurses, advanced practice providers, physical therapists, social workers, and other professionals who care for/provide services to persons with bleeding disorders.

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by University of Nebraska Medical Center and Partners in Bleeding Disorders Education Program. University of Nebraska Medical Center is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

At the conclusion of this live activity, the participants should be better able to:

• Discuss clinical presentation, laboratory evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of rare blood disorders including von Willebrand disease (VWD), rare bleeding disorders, thrombosis/thrombophilia, and platelet disorders
• Identify resources through which to access available information and data involving treatment products and protocols in clinical management of rare bleeding disorders
• Analyze health care team considerations related to common clinical scenarios involving persons with rare blood disorders
• Recognize the professional networks of providers from U.S. Hemophilia Treatment Centers (HTCs) to enhance clinical care quality and outcomes for persons with blood disorders treated by HTCs

Hemophilia treatment center nurses, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, and other members of the healthcare team who have treated persons with bleeding disorders for at least two (2) years.

The purpose of this activity is to enable leaners, and Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC) providers, to develop and advance Motivational Interviewing (MI) proficiency in the application of this approach in their daily clinical practice, through a highly experiential and interactive workshop.

The Motivational Interviewing in Clinical Care: Facilitate Change, Improve Outcomes aims to enable the learner to develop and advance Motivational Interviewing (MI) proficiency in the application of this approach in their daily clinical practice, through a highly experiential and interactive workshop.

Upon completion of this learning activity, you will be able to:

• Differentiate the fundamental elements of Motivational Interviewing (MI) and current communication practices
• Facilitate patient engagement with Open Questions and Reflections
• Maintain focused conversations through collaboration with patients in clinical scenarios
• Cultivate patient change language in clinical scenarios
• Utilize evoking Influencers (Affirm, Collaborate, Emphasize autonomy [ACE]) in patient conversations

This Basic Partners Program for Non-Clinical and Administrative Staff activity is intended to enable non-clinical and administrative staff who are currently working at an HTC in non-patient-facing roles who support and work alongside the HTC clinical staff or administrative operations, who desire to develop knowledge about bleeding disorders and comprehensive care provided at HTCs.

At the conclusion of this live activity, the participants should be better able to:

• Discuss the organization and funding of the U.S. Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC) network and important partnerships within the network
• Describe the basics of how blood clots and the basic bleeding symptoms and types of treatment for hemophilia and von Willebrand disease
• Identify the roles and responsibilities of core members of the multidisciplinary bleeding disorders comprehensive care team
• Translate the concept of comprehensive care at HTCs
• Name the most common musculoskeletal complications of hemophilia
• Paraphrase the role of research and data management in bleeding disorder care
• Recall the impact of insurance in bleeding disorder care

This activity is designed for physical therapists, physicians, and advanced practice providers who care for pediatric bleeding disorder patients seeking to develop foundational skills in ultrasound with a focus on musculoskeletal assessment and joint pathology using the Hemophilia Early Arthropathy Detection with Ultrasound (HEAD-US) protocol. Over two and a half days, participants will engage in a combination of didactic lectures, hands-on scanning practice, and interactive case discussions to reinforce key ultrasound principles. The curriculum covers ultrasound physics, equipment optimization, normal joint anatomy, and scanning techniques for the elbow, knee, and ankle using the HEAD-US protocol. Participants will also gain experience in recognizing common pathological findings, including osteochondral damage, acute hemarthrosis and joint recess distension by effusion and synovial proliferation. Finally, the course also introduces key considerations for musculoskeletal imaging in children and a concise overview of HEAD-US scoring of hemophilic arthropathy, aspects that will be explored in-depth in the advanced course. Join us for a specialized training experience led by Drs. Carlo Martinoli, Nihal Bakeer, Kyle Davis, and the highly experienced physical therapists (Stacie Akins, Tiffany Kaltenmark, Fred Loeffler, Melissa Barnes) at Innovative Hematology. This course focuses on foundational skills (Level I) and does not cover advanced topics, such as muscle injuries, advanced pediatric arthropathy detection, or HEAD-US scoring calibration. • Identify normal and pathological findings
  • Recognize normal joint anatomy and interpret key pathological ultrasound findings, including synovial changes, hemarthrosis, and osteochondral surface abnormalities.
• Gain basic understanding of pediatric ultrasound scanning and HEAD-US scoring
  • Learn the anatomical nuances of the immature skeleton and key considerations for musculoskeletal imaging in children.
  • Develop a basic understanding of the HEAD-US scoring system for hemophilia arthropathy in this age group.

To attend the Beginner Pediatric Hemophilia Early Arthropathy Detection and Ultrasound (HEAD-US) course, you must meet the following criteria:

• Be employed at a Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC) in a bleeding disorder patient-facing role for at least six (6) months.
• Provide care to pediatric patients. Lifespan providers are also eligible to apply.
• Have access to a point-of-care MSKUS device at HTC place of employment.
• Work at an HTC that intends to have dedicated staff to perform MSKUS.
• While beneficial, no prior MSKUS experience is required for this course.

This activity is designed for physical therapists, physicians, and advanced practice providers with prior ultrasound experience seeking to enhance their skills in comprehensive pediatric joint assessment, muscle injury evaluation, and scoring of hemophilic arthropathy using the Hemophilic Arthropathy Early Detection with Ultrasound (HEAD-US) protocol. This intensive two-day course provides an in-depth review of ultrasound techniques used for pediatric joints (elbows, knees, and ankles), with a focus on advanced pathology detection and practical hands-on sessions under expert tutoring. Participants will refine their expertise in HEAD-US scoring, engage in live-case scanning and scoring, and undergo self-testing calibration exercises on a large dataset of scans. Additional sessions will address synovial and osteochondral mimickers, image interpretation pitfalls, and guidelines for acquiring standardized imaging documentation for external reading.   • Gain proficiency in ultrasound scanning of pediatric joints and in accurate image interpretation through deep understanding of pediatric skeletal maturation as well as imaging pitfalls and nuances. Practical sessions will incorporate "tips and tricks" to consolidate knowledge and enhance scanning confidence.
• Enhance interpretation and scoring skills using HEAD-US
  • Deepen understanding of the HEAD-US scoring system through structured calibration exercises, live case scanning, and real-time scoring to improve diagnostic accuracy and interobserver reliability.
• Recognize and interpret advanced pathological findings
  • Identify and differentiate key pathological ultrasound findings in pediatric joints and muscles, including synovial hypertrophy, hemarthrosis, osteochondral changes, and muscle hematomas. Differential diagnoses will be described to avoid misinterpretation and support accurate clinical assessment.

To attend the Beginner Pediatric Hemophilia Early Arthropathy Detection and Ultrasound (HEAD-US) course, you must meet the following criteria:

• Be employed at a Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC) in a bleeding disorder patient-facing role for at least six (6) months.
• Provide care to pediatric patients. Lifespan providers are also eligible to apply.
• Have access to a point-of-care MSKUS device at HTC place of employment.
• Work at an HTC that intends to have dedicated staff to perform MSKUS.
• Need to have demonstrated proficiency scanning patients using point-of-care ultrasound and be able to identify normal joint anatomy in ultrasound scanning planes.
• Prior MSKUS experience is required for this course.

This activity aims to enable participants, psychosocial professionals engaged as core team members of the multidisciplinary hemophilia comprehensive care team, to develop knowledge and competence to provide high quality psychosocial care for persons with bleeding disorders. The content level of this activity is basic. This activity, like all Partners Programs, is free to attend. Apply for this activity by completing the Application Form. Upon approval, you will receive a confirmation email. You will be contacted at least 4 weeks prior to the activity with logistical details, including air and ground transportation and hotel information.

The Basic Partners Program for Social Workers is intended to enable participants, psychosocial professionals engaged as core team members of the multidisciplinary hemophilia comprehensive care team, to develop knowledge and competence to provide high quality psychosocial care for persons with bleeding disorders.

At the conclusion of this live activity, the participants should be better able to:

• Discuss the expanded role of the social worker in the multidisciplinary comprehensive care team
• Articulate characteristics of hemophilia including its genetics, pathophysiology, complications, treatment, and psychosocial impact
• Identify ways to improve skills in the assessment and management of hemophilia and its complications surrounding psychosocial issues of coping, adherence, and quality of life
• Foster a culturally sensitive, family-centered approach to care
• Recognize the value of a professional mentoring network within the federally recognized U.S. Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC) network

Social workers and other psychosocial professionals who currently are and have been caring for persons with bleeding disorders in the federally recognized U.S. Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC) network for at least six (6) months.

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by University of Nebraska Medical Center and Partners in Bleeding Disorders Education Program. University of Nebraska Medical Center is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Social work continuing education credits will be provided.

To attend this program, you must meet the following criteria:

• Be employed at a U.S federally recognized HTC in a bleeding disorder patient-facing role for at least six (6) months.
