The Basic Partners Program is intended to enhance participants' knowledge of hemophilia and von Willebrand disease and increase competence to provide high quality bleeding disorder management within a multidisciplinary comprehensive care team as derived from evidence-based education, standardized guidelines, and professional networking.

At the conclusion of this live activity, the participants should be better able to:

• Describe the pathophysiology of hemophilia and von Willebrand disease, including the underlying genetics, differences by disease type and severity, basic treatments, and possible complications
• Perform evidence-based assessment and management techniques during bleeding episodes and other complications associated with hemophilia and von Willebrand disease
• Integrate a patient-/family-centered, multidisciplinary, team-based approach while caring for persons with bleeding disorders
• Discuss the organization and funding of the U.S. Hemophilia Treatment Center Network (USHTCN) and important partnerships within the network
• Explain the roles and responsibilities of core members of the multidisciplinary bleeding disorders comprehensive care team
• Develop a professional network of nurses and other healthcare providers from U.S. HTCs to promote quality care and evidence-based practice through collaboration

Multidisciplinary clinical providers who currently are, and have been, practicing in the federally recognized U.S. Hemophilia Treatment Center Network (USHTCN) for at least 6 months, including nurses, advanced practice providers, physical therapists, social workers, and other professionals who care for persons with bleeding disorders.

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by University of Nebraska Medical Center and Partners in Bleeding Disorders Education Program. The University of Nebraska Medical Center is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

ANCC Credits will be offered.

To attend this program, you must meet the following criteria:

• Be employed at a U.S federally funded HTC in a bleeding disorder patient-facing role for a recommended six (6) months to one (1) year.
• Obtain approval to attend from Regional Coordinator via automated process upon submission of application.

• There is no registration fee to attend Basic Partners.
• Once registered, you will be contacted approximately 4 weeks before the program with instructions on scheduling your flight or rental car. All registrants are encouraged to read the Partners Travel Policy to understand costs that are covered and costs that you may incur.
• The Partners in Bleeding Disorders Education Program is supported by educational grants from Genentech, a member of the Roche Group; and Takeda Pharmaceuticals U.S.A., Inc. Travel and lodging for program participants are made possible by an at-will contribution from the Indiana Hemophilia and Thrombosis Center.

To enable participants, psychosocial professionals engaged as core team members of the multidisciplinary hemophilia comprehensive care team, to develop knowledge and competence to provide high quality psychosocial care for persons with bleeding disorders.

At the conclusion of this live activity, the participants should be better able to:

• Discuss the expanded role of the social worker in the multidisciplinary comprehensive care team
• Articulate characteristics of hemophilia including its genetics, pathophysiology, complications, treatment, and psychosocial impact
• Recommend ways to improve skills in the assessment and management of hemophilia and its complications surrounding psychosocial issues of coping, adherence, and quality of life
• Foster a culturally sensitive, family-centered approach to care
• Develop a professional mentoring network within the federally-recognized U.S. hemophilia treatment center network

Social workers and other psychosocial professionals who currently are and have been caring for persons with bleeding disorders in the federally-recognized U.S. hemophilia treatment center network for at least 6 months.
