Purpose
The Advanced Partners for Physical Therapists aims to enable the learner to expand expertise and proficiency in clinical evaluation, assessment, and management of individuals with bleeding disorders in order to promote best practice and optimal patient health outcomes.
Objectives
At the conclusion of this live activity, HTC physical therapists caring for patients with hemophilia and other bleeding disorders will be able to:
- Describe hemostatic therapy choices and their impact on physical therapy treatments.
- Define shared clinical decision-making and patient-family-centered care.
- State examination guidelines found in the National Bleeding Disorders Foundation's PT Examination Practice Guidelines.
- Recall the Hemophilia Joint Health Score (HJHS) criteria for differing degrees of joint health and limitation.
- Sort characteristics and interventions for fractures, contusions/muscle bleeds, strains, and sprains.
- Translate conservative interventions and invasive procedures based on bleeding severity and extent of joint disease.
- Identify the role of and timing for use of elastic therapeutic tape.
- Articulate the role of point-of-care musculoskeletal ultrasound to detect and monitor hemophilic arthropathy.

Target Audience
The Advanced Partners Program for Physical Therapists was developed for physical therapists who are employed full- or part-time by a federally recognized hemophilia treatment center and treat patients with bleeding disorders and wish to expand their clinical decision making and patient evaluation and assessment skills beyond the introductory level and who have treated persons with bleeding disorders for at least one (1) year. Eligibility Criteria
To attend this program, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be employed at a U.S. federally recognized HTC as a physical therapist for at least one (1) year. If you have less than 1 year of experience at the HTC, please email us at partners@inheme.orgto discuss eligibility to attend this program.
- Obtain approval to attend from Regional Administrator via automated process upon submission of application.

Cost and Travel Information
- There is no registration fee to attend a Partners Program.
- Once registered, you will be contacted at least 4 weeks before the program with logistical details, including air and ground transportation and hotel information. All registrants are encouraged to read the Partners Travel Policy to understand costs that are covered and costs that you may incur.
- Partners in Bleeding Disorders Education Programs are supported by education grant(s) from the following entities: Cascade Hemophilia Consortium; Sanofi; Genentech, a member of the Roche Group; Pfizer, and the Indiana Hemophilia & Thrombosis Center (IHTC).
