Purpose Statement
Upon completion of this learning activity, the learner will be able to recommend appropriate sports and physical activity in persons with hemophilia, taking into account severity of hemophilia, treatment product and regimen, potential injury risk, required conditioning, and special considerations to ensure safe participation.

- Describe the evolution in perspectives on participation in sports and physical activity among persons with hemophilia (PWH)
- Review the benefits of sports and physical activity among PWH and recommendations for participation
- Evaluate the potential for injury in sports and physical activity participation by PWH
- Discuss the selection of appropriate sports and physical activities by PWH
- Identify considerations in managing care for PWH involved in sports and physical activity
Target Audience
This learning activity is intended for nurses, nurse practitioners, physical therapists, and other members of the multidisciplinary hemophilia comprehensive care team employed at federally recognized U.S. Hemophilia Treatment Centers (HTCs) who treat patients with moderate and severe hemophilia and require enhanced knowledge of recommendations and considerations for sports and physical activity participation in these patients.

This online learning activity utilizes a brief literature review, case studies, and interactive questions to describe evolving perspectives on participation in sports and physical activity among persons with hemophilia, the benefits of participation and potential for injury in these activities, considerations in management of patients with hemophilia who participate in sports and physical activity, and selection of appropriate activities for persons with hemophilia. After reviewing the Reading Room content, learners are invited to proceed to the case studies, interactive questions, program evaluation, and posttest.
