Purpose Statement
The purpose of this online learning activity is to enable the learner to develop competency in providing care through outreach and planning an outreach clinic.
Educational Objectives
- Discuss the impact of potential barriers to care and how to overcome these challenges including access to care in vulnerable populations
- Describe outreach as it relates to health care delivery and how various roles within a health care team are involved in the coordination process
- Differentiate three telemedicine delivery methods
- Discuss considerations involved in planning and financing an outreach clinic and potential cost-effectiveness of outreach
Target Audience
This module targets staff employed within the U.S. Hemophilia Treatment Center Network (USHTCN) to include nurses, nurse practitioners, social workers, physicians, physical therapists, administrators, and other professionals. It is also appropriate for hospital or institutional staff responsible for planning and managing outreach programs for persons with bleeding disorders.
Topics/Content
This online learning activity introduces outreach as a model of care, including telemedicine, and reviews logistical and cost considerations associated with planning an outreach clinic. Two detailed case studies enable the learner to apply information gained through this activity.
