To enhance the ability of the experienced USHTCN social worker to provide psychosocial support to persons with bleeding disorders in a family-centered care environment using peer-reviewed literature, patient case studies, group discussion, and professional networking. The content level of this activity is advanced.

At the conclusion of this live activity, the participants should be better able to:

• Discuss strategies for managing ethical dilemmas commonly encountered by HTC psychosocial staff and persons with bleeding disorders as derived from case-based scenarios
• Articulate best practices for addressing the psychosocial needs of patients considering gene therapy
• Propose counseling methods to address pain management?in persons with bleeding disorders
• Discuss updated cultural competencies related to social and political landscapes since the COVID-19 pandemic?and the impact on persons with bleeding disorders
• Discuss the neurological approach to psychology and behavior in persons with bleeding disorders

This activity is designed for social workers and other psychosocial professionals who currently are and have been caring for persons with bleeding disorders in the federally-recognized U.S. hemophilia treatment center network for at least 2 years and wish to expand clinical-decision making evaluation and assessment skills beyond the level of Basic Partners Program.

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by University of Nebraska Medical Center and Partners in Bleeding Disorders Education Program. The University of Nebraska Medical Center is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

As a Jointly Accredited Organization, University of Nebraska Medical Center is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. Social workers completing this course receive 10.25 continuing education credits.

To attend this program, you must meet the following criteria:

• Be employed at a U.S. federally funded HTC as a social worker and/or other psychosocial professional for at least 2 years.
• Obtain approval to attend from the Regional Administrator via automated process upon submission of application.

• There is no registration fee to attend Advanced Partners Program for Social Workers.
• Once registered, you will be contacted approximately 4 weeks before the program with instructions on scheduling your flight or rental car. All registrants are encouraged to read the Partners Travel Policy to understand costs that are covered and costs that you may incur.
• The Partners in Bleeding Disorders Education Program is supported by educational grants from Genentech, a member of the Roche Group; and Takeda Pharmaceuticals U.S.A., Inc. Travel and lodging for program participants are made possible by an at-will contribution from the Indiana Hemophilia and Thrombosis Center.
