The Advanced Topics II for the Nursing Care Team aims to enable the learner to expand upon the basic hemophilia management knowledge base including pharmacological treatments, using current literature and best practice review, case study analysis, professional networking, and methods designed to raise care quality for persons with hemophilia treated within the federally recognized U.S. Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC) Network.

At the conclusion of this live activity, the participants should be better able to:

• Discuss clinical presentation, laboratory evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of rare blood disorders including von Willebrand disease (VWD), rare bleeding disorders, thrombosis/thrombophilia, and platelet disorders
• Identify resources through which to access available information and data involving treatment products and protocols in clinical management of rare bleeding disorders
• Analyze health care team considerations related to common clinical scenarios involving persons with rare blood disorders
• Identify the professional networks of providers from U.S. Hemophilia Treatment Centers (HTCs) to enhance clinical care quality and outcomes for persons with blood disorders treated by HTCs

Hemophilia treatment center nurses, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, and other members of the healthcare team who have treated persons with bleeding disorders for at least two (2) years.

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by University of Nebraska Medical Center and Partners in Bleeding Disorders Education Program. University of Nebraska Medical Center is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

ANCC credits will be offered.

To attend this program, you must meet the following criteria:

• Be employed at a U.S. federally recognized HTC as a nurse, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, pharmacist or similar role for at least two (2) years.
• Obtain approval to attend from Regional Administrator via automated process upon submission of application.

• There is no registration fee to attend a Partners Program.
• Once registered, you will be contacted at least 4 weeks before the program with logistical details, including air and ground transportation and hotel information. All registrants are encouraged to read the Partners Travel Policy to understand costs that are covered and costs that you may incur.
• The Partners in Bleeding Disorders Education Program is supported by an independent medical education grant(s). Travel and lodging for program participants are made possible by an at-will contribution from the Indiana Hemophilia & Thrombosis Center.
